Olivia Serene Lee is an Associate with Minami Tamaki LLP in our Immigration Practice Group. She was admitted to the California Bar in 2008 and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of California.
Ms. Lee received her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Lee worked as a law clerk for the Immigration Practice Group at Minami Tamaki LLP in 2007 and 2008. She also participated in her law school’s Immigration Appellate Practice and argued before the Ninth Circuit under her law professor’s supervision. During the spring of 2007, Ms. Lee interned at the San Francisco Immigration Court, where she researched removal, deportation and asylum issues. She also volunteered on immigration cases involving domestic violence and human trafficking at the Asian Law Alliance.
As a law student, Ms. Lee explored race and law issues as a Research Assistant to Professor Margalynne Armstrong. She also received the Witkin Award for Critical Race Theory and a scholarship from the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Silicon Valley. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Lee volunteered in New Orleans through the Student Hurricane Network.
Ms. Lee received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis in Asian American Studies and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Lee advised students in the Asian American Studies program, researched with Asian American Studies Professor Bill Hing, and served as the liaison between the University of California at Davis and Genentech after holding a research internship there. She was also an exchange student at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a paralegal at an immigration law firm in San Francisco and as a program assistant for the Chinese Culture Center.
