More than 15,000 died and 9,500 people are still unaccounted for following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan. Countless more were also impacted by the resulting nuclear power plant problems.
We asked for your help to support the people of Japan. And you came through.
Please accept our deep appreciation and gratitude for your generous donation to our Minami Tamaki/IOYS matching fund campaign in support of the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California.
Together with you, we made a difference: raising $490,314.36 in combined donations and matches. We were only able to do this because of your generosity, your help with sharing our message and through the support of our campaign partners, who are listed on our site at http://kokuajapan.org.
We received thousands of donations from individuals and from dozens of the professional, community and student organizations that hosted their own fundraising efforts. The activities were just heartwarming: a 15-year-old student who organized her own concert; numerous t-shirt sales; restaurants donating a percentage of their profits; elementary school students dipping into their piggy banks and donating pounds of coins and even their birthday money; and even preschoolers and their families organizing a garage sale.
This campaign has opened our eyes in so many ways that we never imagined. And we couldn’t have done it without you. Although our matching campaign ended on April 30, there’s still a great more to do. Please continue to support JCCCNC’s relief efforts by visiting http://kokoro4japan.org.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for helping us make a difference in lives of the people of Japan in their time of need.
