Truck Driver Sued in Oakland Pedestrian's Death

The family of an 84-year-old pedestrian who was killed by a truck near an entrance to the Nimitz Freeway in Oakland has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver and the trucking company involved in the incident. The suit, filed in Alameda County Superior Court on Tuesday by the family of Homer Leong of Oakland, alleges that driver Jose Fuentes ran over Leong and drove away without rendering assistance to the retired laundryman. It also alleges that Kudos Transportation is liable for negligently hiring and supervising Fuentes. The attorney for the Leong family, William Kwong, said in a statement, "It's clear from the video of the intersection and from eyewitness accounts that Mr. Fuentes likely knew he ran over someone and then fled the scene."
