William Y. Hirose has been Of Counsel to Minami Tamaki LLP since 1996. He was born in San Francisco on June 4, 1929 and admitted to the California State Bar in 1957 and the United States Tax Court in 1986.
Mr. Hirose graduated with a B.S. degree from the School of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley in 1951. In 1957 he received a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley. In 1959, Mr. Hirose received a certificate from the State Board of Accountancy entitling him to practice as a Certified Public Accountant and in 1987, he received a Certificate of Educational Achievement in the area of Personal Financial Planning.
Mr. Hirose was a co-founder of the East Bay CPA Firm, Hirose & Oto, specializing in advising businesses and individuals on matters relating to corporate, partnership, personal, estate and gift taxes. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the East Bay Tax Club and the Estate Planning Council of the East Bay. In 1996, Mr. Hirose retired from his accounting practice to join Minami Tamaki LLP, whose named partners had met Mr. Hirose through his pro bono accounting services which he had provided to the Asian Law Caucus in 1974.
Over the years, Mr. Hirose has been active in many community organizations and charitable institutions including Kokoro, Golden Gate Optimists, Japanese American Korean War Veterans, East Bay Youth Athletic League, Japanese American National Museum and Always Dream Foundation. Mr. Hirose's legal and accounting background combined with his extensive experience in business and family wealth matters provide clients with experienced knowledgeable advice in business matters, investments, retirement, wealth transfer and estate planning, using advanced techniques of maximizing cash flow and minimizing income, gift and estate taxes.
